Mela was born to Beleg and Alya Elendil on the colony of Atrus III. Beleg and Alya were scientists on that colony, and members of Starfleet. Growing up Mela decided that she wanted to follow in her parent's footsteps. She grew up learning about Science, and when she became old enough she decided to join Starfleet to learn a bit more about how to study all around her.
Mela was sad at first to be leaving her childhood home, but she was more excited about learning more about the world around her. Mela decided to follow the career path, and become a specialist in the one thing they didn't have a lot of on the colony, but something that had always interested her. Mela became a specialist in oceanography.
When Mela graduated she was first placed on the USS Amazon. She didn't have much use for her specific skill, but she was still useful. She soon was transferred to the USS Mississippi as Assistant Chief Science Officer, and when the Chief died a few years later she was promoted to Chief. After a few years as Chief Science Officer, Mela was transferred to the USS Houdini as Executive Officer. It was a Science Vessel, and her talents were used more there.
Now Mela heard about a base on planet known as Posiedon's Planet. As a fan of Greek Mythology growing up she enjoyed the name already. Mela asked to be transferred to Triton Base, and she was accepted. She was even happier when they told her she was going to be in charge of the thing. |
